I started this post when Nora turned 20 months...almost 2 months ago! So, some of it is a bit random, but wanted to get the pics out there for Grandmas and Grandpas!
What?! Nora is already out of her teens? Can it be? Yes, our little one is no longer a "teen-monther", in fact, it's been so long since I last posted, she is nearly a 22-monther! It has been a busy few months for our little gal - moving from mostly babbling (which she still does plenty of) to lots and lots of words and even a few sentences. She amazes me with how she learns and grows - it seems like it's always in fits and starts. For several months her only consistent, real words had been "hello", "buh-bye" and "baba-dada" (for Thang). She's not only added about 60 words to her vocabulary, but also sentences like "I do-do" (translation - "I don't know", while holding her hands up and shrugging her shoulders) and "Baba at work!" (as she points to the door).
Nora's favorite toys aren't dolls or tea sets, puzzles or her musical instruments, no, her favorite play things seem to include balls, rocks and anything she can climb on...or even the occasional potato! We're not sure if she's a future soccer player, geologist or chef!
In her maturity, Nora seems to be learning a very keen sense of right and wrong. About a month ago, we were on our way to the doctor's office. So, I was going just a "tad" over the speed limit, when I suddenly saw flashing lights behind me. I pulled over (and in my congested, sickly fog tried to remember - "Do I get out my license and registration now or do I leave my hands on the steering wheel, oh no, I moved, will he think I'm grabbing a weapon...") As I was panicking, the officer walked up to my open window and from the backseat I heard a sweet, singsong voice say "Uh-oh!" Yes, Nora, Mommy did an "Uh-oh!"
Some other fun things she's doing these days...
- Nora loves to spin (yes, Mommy and Ba should have probably closed some cupboard doors before letting her do this). She's our little "whirling dervish".
- Has shown a little bit of a temper, throwing little tantrums by falling down on the floor when she hasn't gotten her way (although they've thankfully always been brief).
- Always asks for "kissy sandwiches" before bed by sticking her face out and making a long "mmmmmmm..." sound until both Thang and I give her simultaneous cheek kisses...it's adorable.
- She's started counting things, although it usually just comes as "two, two, two, two..." Can you guess her favorite number?
A few more pics that exemplify the little girl that Nora is becoming:
